Planning Your Wedding Music
No matter what the occasion, every event needs music, and none will be more important than your wedding day.
Selecting what music to play throughout your interlude, recession, bouquet toss, wedding dinner and party is certainly hard enough, but choosing that one piece, the most memorable and suitable melody to complement your blissful procession down down the aisle is no easy task.
Luckily for some, this decision may have been made before any proposals were even on the horizon, for others, it could be a decision even harder to make than choosing your dress, suit or wedding location.

Planning Your Wedding Music
If you’re having difficulty choosing your wedding songs, there are several things you can consider to help narrow down your choices.
Different Styles of Music

Songs For Your Wedding
Nowadays it is becoming increasingly difficult to define music into genres. Many artists have been crossing boundaries for decades trying to push the evolution of music, and the result has brought new genres and crossovers of many styles.
Nevertheless, it’s more common for people to choose more traditional music to walk down the aisle – the time for modern music and partying usually comes after.

Wedding DJ
If you’re stuck on what kind of traditional styles might be suitable, think classical, religious, jazz, or even love ballads.
Think about what you and your spouse have been through together, your backgrounds and childhood upbringings. What matters most to you? Are you both set on different ideas? If so, perhaps that’s where a blend of musical genres will help you decide.
You’ll need some outline as to what music you would to play during each part of wedding. You should think about songs for:
- Interlude music
- Prelude music
- Processional music
- Recessional music
- Bouquet toss music
- Wedding dinner music
- Cake cutting music
- First dance music
- Garter toss music
- Last dance music
- Wedding party music

Wedding DJ or Band
Once you’ve decided on your wedding playlist, you’ll have to decide ‘DJ, Wedding Orchestra, band, or both? That shouldn’t be too difficult, given the type of music you have chosen. Both DJ’s and band’s can play a wide range of music.

Wedding Orchestra
Orchestra’s are better suited to live, more traditional types of music; bands can almost cover anything; DJs can also play ‘anything’ but may lack the authenticity of a live performance.

Wedding Location
Wherever you chose to hold your wedding, you’ll need to make sure the music is appropriate for the setting. Playing loud rock or dance music in a church, or holding an all night beach party on a secluded family island is likely to offend, so be sure your choice is a welcome one.

Jazz Band At Wedding
You may also need to take into account the geographical location of your wedding. If you have chosen a remote location such as an island, will it be possible to organize transport of your musicians?

Violinist On The Beach
Most bands, orchestra’s and DJ are prepared to travel, but it’s certainly good practice to ask based on your specific requirements.
The weather may also play an important factor as electrical equipment and musical instruments will need protecting from the elements. Again, these factors are almost always catered for, but if they happen to be left unmanaged, it’s sure-fire track to disaster.
Wedding Theme
There’s no shame in wanting everything on your wedding day to be well coordinated. Music is likely to play an important role throughout the day so it’s a good idea to match your decorative theme with the music.

Stage And Lighting For Wedding Party
If you have a band, you’ll need to place them offstage for the ceremony, but they should become the center piece when people take to the dance floor. If you planning a DJ, you’ll be lots of dance floor room for your guests to enjoy themselves.
Whatever your decision, you’ll also need to take into consideration the stage setting, sound system, and lighting.
Be sure to inform your guests exactly what type of party they can expect. If you’re having an informal wedding bash in the evening,
your formal day guests may not want to stay suited and booted though the nighttime event.
